‘ATA is an industry organisation formed by Indigenous tourism operators and is the primary national organisation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tourism within Australia. The organisation provides leadership and a focus for the development of Indigenous tourism, consistent with Indigenous economic, cultural and environmental values.

ATA provides assistance to the Indigenous communitythrough programs which aim to lift capability across the sector to ensure it is in the best position to capitalise on increasing demand through the provision of high quality product and services that are authentic and culturally and environmentally sensitive. ATA is committed to the protection of authenticity and cultural integrity across the industry and provides education on Indigenous protocols to the broader tourism industry.

Muru Mittigar won the 2006 NSW Tourism Award across the Indigenous Tourism Category.

The NSW Tourism Awards are held annually to celebrate and acknowledge tourism businesses that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and success throughout the year.

The Awards are a submission and inspection-based competition and provide the opportunity to publicly recognise and showcase the State's finest tourism operators.

ATEC are the peak industry body representing Australia’s $24 billion tourism export sector.  NIASA (Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia) is a national scheme for production nursery (growers) and growing media (potting mix) businesses which operate in accordance with a set of national 'best practice' guidelines.

The aims of NIASA are to:

  • Improve the profitability of NIASA accredited businesses through the adoption of industry Best Practice;
  • Encourage the use of environmentally sound work practices;
  • Encourage the continuous improvement of NIASA accredited businesses and those working towards accreditation;
  • Improve customer confidence at all levels of the distribution chain.
